Five Players That Should Get Significant Rating Upgrades In FIFA 21

Jonas FIFA, Guides

Every season, a plethora of new stars emerge in the world of football. With FIFA being an annual game, these players typically receive rating upgrades upon the release of a new FIFA title to reflect their sublime performances from the previous season.

Based on how well they performed, some players may earn significant upgrades, kind of how Kylian Mbappe went from being a 71-rated player on FIFA 17 to becoming an 83-rated player on FIFA 18.

Here’s a look at five players we expect to receive significant upgrades when FIFA 21 rolls out;

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland took the world by storm last season, first making a name for himself with RB Salzburg in the Champions League before going on to make his presence felt in the Bundesliga with Dortmund.

The 19-year-old marksman scored 44 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions making him one of the most prolific strikers in Europe during the 2019/2020 season.

He’s got a base rating of 73, but we expect EA to make him an 83 or 84 rated player when FIFA 21 rolls out.

He’s also likely to get a weak foot upgrade – he currently has a three-star weak foot but a four-star weak foot would be a more accurate representation of his abilities.

Ansu Fati

Ansu Fati has enjoyed a solid breakout season at the Camp Nou, scoring six goals and registering one assist in nine starts for Barcelona.

While still a bit-part player at Barcelona, Fati has proven to be one of the best young players in the Spanish top-flight.

He’s a 73 rated player on FIFA 20, but we expect him to receive a significant upgrade ahead of FIFA 21, 79, or 80 would be fair ratings for a player of his age and current ability.

Victor Osimhen

Nigerian youngster Victor Osimhen proved to be one of the best young players in Ligue 1 this season.

His intelligent movements in and around the 18-yard-area helped him make a major impact in his first season at Lille as he bagged 13 goals in 25 league starts.

Osimhen is a 74-rated player on FIFA 20, but judging by how well he played in the 2019/2020 season, we expect him to go receive an upgrade in the 80-83 range for FIFA 21.

Mason Mount

Mason Mount has been a key player for Frank Lampard in his first season at Chelsea.

He’s scored six goals and registered four assists in 28 games from midfield – he’s proven to be an integral part of Lampard’s system and is expected to play an even more important role for Chelsea next season.

He’s currently rated 75 on FIFA 20, but based on his stellar showings for the Blues this season, he’s likely to receive a 79 or 80 rated card next season.

Mason Greenwood

Considering his goalscoring exploits this season we expect Mason Greenwood to receive one of the most significant rating upgrades in the Premier League when FIFA 21 gets released.

He’s believed to be one of the brightest young stars in the Premier League at the moment and he has the stats to prove it.

Greenwood is a 67-rated player on FIFA 20, but having scored eight goals in nine starts for Manchester United this season we fully expect EA Sports to make him at least a 78 rated player on FIFA 21.
