4 Reasons Why You Need A Gaming Monitor

While traditional monitors and TV's aren’t bad, you're better off playing your games with an actual gaming monitor - here are our four key reasons why;

120Hz+ and Competitive Gaming

Normal monitors and screens are primarily built for watching videos - and because of this, they rarely have more than a 60Hz refresh rate.

While most movies never have more than 60 frames per second, some games may be able to bump up 150 fps, and having those extra refresh rates will really make a world of difference.

The number of times your monitor refreshes per second allows the image you see on your monitor to update quicker, therefore it reduces your input lag and allows you to react faster in video games.

Input lag essentially means the amount of time it takes for your controller/button inputs to reflect on your screen.

Having low input lag gives you an advantage in pretty much every competitive game out there - so it's fair to say that using a gaming monitor as opposed to a regular monitor could help you enhance your performance.

FreeSync and G-Sync Compatibility

Games with very high fps rendered on relatively lower Hz screens may cause what’s known as ‘screen tearing’ where there is an ugly visual split between two portions of your screen.

Now that we know screen tearing is a menace to gamers all over the world, AMD and Nvidia have worked tirelessly over the past few years to provide their own solutions for screen tearing through something known as VSync.

VSync is a graphic technology that is used to cap the frames per second of a screen in order to prevent screen tearing from occurring.

However, VSync is the basic underlying technology surrounding screen tear prevention, so AMD and NVIDIA have taken things a step further to develop their own respective solutions known as FreeSync and G-Sync to improve and augment visual performance only compatible monitors. This additional piece of screen hardware can only be found in gaming monitors and not traditional monitors or TVs.

What’s more is that not only does this feature improve your visual experience while gaming, but it also helps to reduce your input lag, granting you an advantage over people who still use traditional monitors.

Pixels and Visual Quality

Not everyone is a competitive gamer. Some gamers just want to enjoy the cutting-edge graphics, play the games with the right color accuracy and in the best pixel quality while we explore rolling hills or towering skyscrapers.

If that's you, well, a gaming monitor will be able to grant you an immersive and enjoyable gaming experience, more so than with a traditional monitor or TV.

Most gamers sit at about 20’ from their screens and with the compact build of gaming monitors, you can have minimal head movement while seeing all of the screens in as much quality as possible.

Some gaming monitors even come with curved screens, allowing you to enjoy visuals across a wider angle.

Why not? (Versatility)

High-performance gaming monitors can be used not just for gaming but for other work and entertainment purposes. If you’re into videography and editing, then you will find having one of these of immense help for work. And for play, a crisp 4K display will be perfect for watching a new series on Netflix or catching up on your favorite anime on Crunchyroll.

If you're on the lookout for a good gaming monitor, consider getting the Shark Gaming SG24240 24.5 monitor.
