FIFA Mastery: Key Stats To Look For Across Every Position In FIFA 21 Ultimate Team
Being a good FIFA player goes beyond knowing how to play the game. You also need to know how to build a good squad.
Pro FIFA player Boras Legend recently gave us some pro squad building insights to share with the FIFA community. Check them out below;
Goalkeepers
There are three boxes a goalkeeper needs to tick in order to be considered META.
Height: 6’3 and above would be ideal. This allows the goalkeeper to have a solid reach between the sticks.
Diving: 85 should be the minimum. A high diving stat allows a goalkeeper to consistently make “impossible” saves.
Kicking: This translates to the goalkeeper’s ability to distribute the ball accurately, so if you value accuracy, you’d do well to only sign goalkeepers with at least 80 kicking.
Center-Backs
Center-backs, as you probably know, are your last line of defence.
Certain stats influence their ability to perform their role effectively, here’s a look at those stats;
Pace: Center-backs don’t need to be fast, but they should be able to cover short distances quickly, hence, a minimum of 75 pace should be the benchmark for a good centre-back.
Height: Center-backs need to be tall enough to win aerial duels. Aim to sign center-backs who are at the very least, 6’0 tall.
Strength: Center-backs need to be able to shrug players off the ball, so look for center-backs with a strength rating of 80 and above.
Interceptions: The ability to intercept the ball is very key, so make sure your center-backs have an interceptions rating of at least 80.
Full-backs
Considering your full-backs will be facing dangerous wingers, you’ll need to make sure that they are well equipped to handle them.
Here’s a look at the benchmarks of a META full-back in FIFA 21:
Pace: Ideally, your full-backs should have 90+ pace, but you can get by with just 80 if you use a shadow chemistry style.
Dribbling: Full-backs are a key part of build-up play in FIFA 21, so it would be a good idea to only use full-backs who have at least 80 dribbling.
Physicality: Considering full-backs are defenders, they need to be strong enough to push incoming attackers off the ball – a physicality rating of 70 would do the trick.

Central Midfielder
Center-mids play a very important role. They distribute the ball across all areas of the pitch and they dictate the pace of the game. Here’s a look at the key stats they need to possess;
Pace: midfielders don’t need to have blistering pace, but they need to be fast enough to cover short distances, so make sure you only sign midfielders who possess at least 75 pace.
Passing: Passing accuracy is incredibly key in FIFA 21, so it’d be a good idea to only sign midfielders who possess 80+ passing.
Long shots: Midfielders tend to find themselves in positions where they can shoot from long range, so having a CM with at least 85 long-shots would be beneficial.
Dribbling: A central-midfielder’s dribbling doesn’t need to be high – 80 will suffice.
Defensive Midfielder
Defensive midfielders are essentially center-mids who play a more defensive role. Here’s a look at the key stats you should look out for when signing one:
Physicality: Defensive midfielders need to be able to hold their own against other players, so we’d recommend at least 75 physicality for a DM.
Defending: A key part of a DM’s role is defence, so it’d be smart to only sign DMs who possess 80+ defending.
Ideal Work rates: H/M or H/L
Wingers
Wingers are a key part of your attacking set-up, so you need to make sure they have the right stats to get you the results you want in the Weekend League. On that note, here are some key stats you should look for when signing a winger.
Pace: Wingers need blistering pace, so make sure your wingers have nothing less than 90 pace.
Shooting: Wingers often find themselves in goalscoring positions, but to capitalize on those positions, they need to be able to score, hence their shooting should be a minimum of 80.
Dribbling: You need to be able to dribble past defenders with your wingers, so make sure they have good dribbling – 85 will suffice.
Attacking Midfielders
Attacking midfielders have a very unique role. They facilitate cohesion between your midfield and your attack. Performing this role effectively requires a special set of stats. Here’s a look at those stats.
Pace: Attacking midfielders need to be able to move in and out of the 18-yard-area across rapidly, hence, you should sign attacking midfielders who have at least 80 pace.
Dribbling: Dribbling is probably the most important stat for an attacking midfielder, so 85 dribbling would be a fair benchmark for attacking midfielders.
Passing: Ball distribution is a key facet of an attacking midfielder’s play, so you’d do well to sign an attacking midfielder with at least 80 passing.
Shooting: Attacking midfielders tend to get into good goalcoring positions, so it would be worth it to sign one who has at least 80 shooting.
Strikers
Strikers are your main goalscoring outlet in FIFA, hence they need to have certain stats that contribute to their ability to find the back of the net. Here’s a look at those stats:
Pace:. Strikers need around 90 pace. However, depending on your playstyle, you may be able to successfully use a slower striker.
Finishing: Using a striker who possesses anything less than 85 finishing would be putting yourself at a huge disadvantage.
