Lesson description
The 4-4-2 is Donovan’s second favorite formation because of the nice square it forms in the attack. This gives you a lot of options to play aggressive and score even if it’s missing a CAM. You can easily pass the ball from your center midfielders to your strikers, and create different openings. Additionally, you can play it from the center, down the line and vice-versa. 4-4-2 used to be better defensively, but after the patch, your strikers don’t come back anymore so you have to be careful in the defense. When you are losing and you desperately need a goal past the 75-minute mark, you go to a 3-4-2-1. If you are a couple of goals behinds, this formation makes it very easy to go forward but it’s very risky if you get tackled or the opponent launches a counter-attack.
