Lesson description
In this episode, Cr1t- covers a draft from the WePlay Mad Moon tournament, where VP played against Nigma. Drafting is one of the most significant aspects of competitive Dota. Most of the time, it determines the winner before the game even starts. The majority of captains already have a predetermined game plan before entering the draft stage and will, therefore, do the first phase of bans accordingly. Good examples of strong heroes in the current patch are Nyx Assassin and Slardar. As two heroes that counter around a third of the heroes available in the pool, so they get first-phase banned. Nigma is one of those teams that love picking open cores. Open cores are heroes that are playable as a core on multiple lanes. For this reason, they choose Timbersaw and Medusa, heroes that can be played both in midlane or safelane. Doing so gives them a significant advantage in the drafting phase as VP will have a harder time understanding the lanes.
